Bonus Track: Hope Eyrie
Again, very sorry for the lateness. Sick, busy, Real Life, et cetera. I'll actually have a few songs very soon, and finish up this album. Meantime, in commemoration of the 38th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing this past Friday, here's my version of some modern mythology, the quintessential filk song, Leslie Fish's amazing ballad "Hope Eyrie".

Worlds grow old and suns grow cold
And death we never can doubt.
Time's cold wind, wailing down the past,
Reminds us that all flesh is grass
And history's lamps blow out.
But the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.
Cycles turn while the far stars burn,
And people and planets age.
Life's crown passes to younger lands,
Time brushes dust of hope from his hands
And turns another page.
But the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.
But we who feel the weight of the wheel
When winter falls over our world
Can hope for tomorrow and raise our eyes
To a silver moon in the opened skies
And a single flag unfurled.
For the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.
We know well what Life can tell:
If you would not perish, then grow.
And today our fragile flesh and steel
Have laid our hands on a vaster wheel
With all of the stars to know
That the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.
From all who tried out of history's tide,
Salute for the team that won.
And the old Earth smiles at her children's reach,
The wave that carried us up the beach
To reach for the shining sun.
For the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.

Please stop apologizing for being late. Life happens. Stuff happens. You're doing an incredible thing, and if we have to wait a bit or even (*gasp*) go a whole week without a new Tom Smith song, we'll survive, and just be that much happier when the deferred treat finally arrives. Take care of yourself, song man!
Many thanks, ky. Understand, though -- I made a promise, both to you all and to myself, that I would do a song a week. (I'm going to take some time off after this album's done.) I do my best to keep my promises.
Thank you Tom for everything thus far. Good luck on getting this album done, then your well deserved and much needed break.
Is this going to be the bonus track on the next iTom album release, or will this even be on it?
Thanks muchly. This will be the bonus track on iTom 4.0.
Thank you. Your voice does this piece true justice.
This is an amazing song. The moon landind is one of my oldest memories (I was not quite 2)
And I had the great good fortune to hear Leslie Fish perform this live.
